The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines led to the shutdown of businesses and health services including veterinary clinics and hospitals. Dr. Chrysobel set up Free Vet Consult as a means for pet owners to get quality free non-critical veterinary advice without leaving their homes. Seizing the opportunity, she utilized the group to educate people about common diseases, the dangers of home remedies, and responsible pet ownership. And, in response to the lack of an accessible directory, she and her sister launched a map last March highlighting open clinics and stores selling pet supplies that quickly became the primary resource for pet owners. It is still being used today.
While the original group has been archived due to quarantine restrictions being lifted, Dr. Chrysobel continues to provide an avenue for teaching and learning through Zippet PH: she hosts Yappy Hour - a live freeform discussion and Q&A on relevant topics - on an almost-weekly basis, and offers tailored pet health care classes by appointment.
The name Zippet PH came from their beloved family beagle, Zippy.
